The nurse practitioner is able to see patients in her surgeries, give telephone advice and in certain cases prescribe. If the nurse practitioner feels that you need to see the doctor she will arrange this. Some examples of the problems she can deal with are coughs, colds, flu, earache, sore throat, diarrhoea and vomiting, skin problems, sticky or red eyes, thrush/vaginal discharge, cystitis, emergency contraception, family planning, women’s health problems, older person’s advice.
The practice nurses are available by appointment to provide a range of services including dressings, injections, immunisations, ear syringing, removal of stitches, cervical smears, foreign travel advice and health promotion clinics. They can also advise on minor health problems.
Our nursing staff are complemented by a dedicated team of health care assistants who perform phlebotomy, routine cardiac investigations and chronic disease management.
